Anthony Ray is a local musician, historian, and theologian. Originally from Palmdale, California, he moved to Salt Lake City three years ago to work at the Cathedral of the Madeleine as music administrator, cantor, and chorister. As a musician, he has performed with many professional choirs in Los Angeles and Salt Lake City, including the Los Angeles Master Chorale, Chorosynthesis, Sound of Ages, Sunday Night Singers, and numerous other choral ensembles.

Anthony is an oblate of St. Andrew’s Abbey, a Benedictine community in Valyermo, California. He is active in the Diocese of Salt Lake City, serving on the Liturgical Commission and as chair of the diocesan music committee. He holds a bachelor of arts degree in music from California State University Los Angeles. He is nearly finished with a master of arts in theology degree from St. John’s School of Theology in Collegeville, Minnesota, focusing on sacramental and liturgical theology. He is working concurrently on a master of arts in history degree from the University of Utah, focusing on the American Southwest during the Spanish and Mexican periods. In his spare time, Anthony enjoys being with family and friends, reading, writing, researching, biking, and antiquing.
