Monsieur Lou — is a native Frenchman (with U.S. citizenship) who lived in the United States from 1989 to 2016, when he and his family decided to return to France so that their son could fully experience what it means to be bilingual and bicultural. After seven years in Salt Lake, they decided to move back to France in 2016 and  have made their home in the beautiful historic center of Toulouse, in the southwest of France.

His journey as an educator began with a passion for soccer — the reason he first came to the U.S. in 1989 as a foreign exchange student in North Carolina. He earned a degree in education and has been teaching and coaching ever since, with nearly 20 years of classroom experience. He began teaching French in Mexico at the Alliance Française de Querétaro, then returned to his North Carolina “roots,” where he helped build a thriving French program and led student trips to France.

In Utah, he solidified his teaching identity — combining the structure of the French school system with a love for technology and innovation. He embraces modern trends in education while honoring time-tested traditions.

Since moving to France, he has worked with students and professionals from a variety of international backgrounds, helping them adapt to French life and culture. As he often says, la vie est plutôt sympa en France.

After stepping away briefly from classroom management to focus on personalized teaching and intercultural coaching, he is  returning  to school life with renewed energy and a deeper understanding of what students need. He is excited to bring this experience to Judge Memorial, where he aims to help students grow in confidence, language skills, and cultural awareness.

He believes that learning French is not just about grammar or vocabulary — it's about connection, exploration, and discovering new ways of thinking. He is a positive, enthusiastic educator and feels honored to guide students on their journey toward fluency and global understanding.
