EDUCATION

  • B.A. CSU, Chico

  • M.A. Jesuit School of Theology, Berkeley

Kate Motroni-Fish (Mrs. Mo-Fish) comes to Judge way of the San Francisco Bay Area. She and her family came to Salt Lake City on a trip, fell in love with the city, the natural landscape, and the artistic culture, and the rest was history. Growing up in the Bay Area all of her life, this was a major leap of faith, but the best one she has made.

Mrs. Mo-Fish grew up in a community rooted in justice work and was transformed by Catholic communities such as the Catholic Workers founded by Dorothy Day, the Christian Base Communities of El Salvador, and the peace activists of the Plowshares Movement. She grew up knowing and learning from clergy and laity who devoted their lives to seeking justice rooted in their Catholic faith. She received her undergraduate degrees in Religious Studies and Sociology from California State University Chico and went on to study Ethics and Social Theory, receiving a Masters from the Jesuit School of Theology in Berkeley. She began her teaching career in schools founded by the Sisters of Notre Dame and later found her way to schools founded by the Religious of the Sacred Heart. She is excited to bring this wealth of knowledge and variety of ways of living out Catholic Traditions to Judge. Her academic interests are Catholic Social Teaching and Bioethics as well as the ways in which leadership intersects with lived experiences of faith. This is what has drawn her to areas of Campus Ministry. Mrs. Mo-Fish will be taking on the Peer Ministry class as well as coordinating the retreats program for Judge this year as well as teaching in the Theology department.

Outside of school Mrs. Mo-Fish loves to cook, hike, and create art through the mediums of collage and found object art. She spends the vast majority of her time exploring the Salt Lake Valley and beyond with her husband and two daughters exploring new places. Some of her favorites have been hiking at Bloods Lake, the Main Library branch in downtown, Dreamscapes, and exploring the local food scene.
