Madi Mr. Leafe joins the Judge community after spending the last five years in South Florida working as a Social Studies teacher and Athletic Director at Fisher Island Day School and most recently as a Dean of Students at Chaminade Madonna College Preparatory. Mr. Leafe began his career teaching elementary school in the South Bronx at a charter school serving the nation’s poorest congressional district. While finishing his Masters degree at Hunter College he transitioned to Convent of the Sacred Heart, an all-girls Catholic School on the Upper East Side. While there he taught AP US History and current events as well as coached cross country and track and field.
Mr. Leafe has embraced the opportunity to develop the whole student in his role as Dean of Students. He was drawn to Judge’s Cura Personalis and its motto “Builders of a more just society.” He seeks to lead by example and to help instill accountability, lifelong healthy habits and independent critical thinking in all of his students. Mr. Leafe sees every interaction as a teachable moment and an opportunity to make a positive impact on each young adult's future.
Prior to beginning his career in education, Mr. Leafe grew up in the mountains of New Hampshire and Vermont. He attended Burke Mountain Academy, an elite ski racing academy, where he fostered a love of skiing and the outdoors. He attended Dartmouth College as a member of their Division 1 Ski Team where he was an Academic All-American and served as Captain his senior year.
Mr. Leafe moved to Utah with his wife, two young boys and two rambunctious golden retrievers. He is excited to explore all of the mountains, parks and canyons that Utah has to offer with his family. In his free time he can be found skiing, golfing, hiking, biking, scuba diving or traveling around the world.
