Erin Freeman has a passion for children, education, service, and building strong, welcoming communities. Her professional and community work has centered on supporting children and families, with a particular interest in education and creating environments where young people feel safe, valued, and empowered to thrive. She has experience in nonprofit leadership, educational programming, teaching, fundraising, and school communities.
Her commitment to serving children and families has taken her around the world, including to refugee camps in Greece during the Syrian war, where she spent four years working alongside displaced families. She founded and led the development of a school and educational program for refugee children and teens, providing educational opportunities and a social-emotional program where children could safely process their thoughts and emotions after experiencing the trauma and devastation of displacement. The program also incorporated art, sports, and other activities designed to help children heal, regain a sense of normalcy, and simply have the opportunity to be kids again. Her family joined her in Greece for one summer to serve alongside her and the refugee community. The program continues to serve children today.
Her commitment to refugee and immigrant families also led to her selection as one of 20 nonprofit leaders nationally for the Hello Neighbor Network Emerging Leader Fellowship.
Judge Memorial holds a special place in Erin’s heart. Her oldest son graduated from Judge in 2025, two of her sons are currently students at Judge, and her youngest will eventually join the Judge community as well. Outside of work, Erin loves spending time with her four boys, reading, traveling, hiking, and being outdoors. She especially enjoys exploring new places with her family and immersing themselves in different cultures, believing that stepping outside of our own experiences, and learning from the people and traditions of others is one of the most meaningful ways to understand the world. She believes some of the most important lessons are made through adventure, time together, connecting with others, and experiencing the beauty of the world around us.
