EDUCATION

• B.F.A. in Ballet ~ University of Utah
• M.F.A. in Modern Dance ~ University of Utah

Jennifer A. Beaumont has been hearing glowing accounts (perhaps idealized, romanticized, or shimmering would be a better description?) of St. Mary's of the Wasatch from her beloved grandmother for her entire life. But it wasn't until she walked into the back offices of Judge Memorial Catholic High School as a Dance department assistant and substitute teacher in 2011 and saw a large photo on the wall of her grandmother's school, that she realized that she was finally in her ancestral, spiritual home. For Ms. Beaumont, joining the faculty at Judge, at long last, feels more like a homecoming than a new beginning. Jennifer rests in the knowledge that she was guided here, and she couldn't be more grateful for this gift of grace.

Jennifer is a lifelong dancer who began her early, classical training in her beloved home state of Idaho. She moved to Utah to pursue a B.F.A. in ballet from the University of Utah, while taking advantage of all three undergraduate emphases offered: character dance, performance, and teaching. During her studies, she performed with Utah Ballet and Character Dance Ensemble, and was the recipient of the prestigious Fine Arts Advisory Board Scholarship. She has performed professionally with Tuacahn Center for the Arts, Repertory Dance Theatre, RawMoves, and SB dance. After her professional career, she returned to the University of Utah earning her M.F.A. in modern dance while teaching university courses with a full graduate assistant scholarship. Her theoretical and movement research focused on intuition in the creative process, which is a subject she is still vigorously exploring.

Jennifer is passionate about teaching all ages, but especially middle and high schools, and she loves helping students discover their own inner strengths, self-confidence, intuitive knowing, artistry, and creativity through the moving body.  She has been an adjunct professor at Weber State University, a staff professor at the University of Utah, a longtime teacher with Repertory Dance Theatre, and is currently on the faculty of the prestigious Gifted Music School. While not dancing, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her four children, seeing live music and dance performances of all kinds, attending many Judge Memorial events and fundraisers,  and returning to her family’s farm in Idaho anytime she gets the chance!
